June 15-17 and June 22-24: The nationally recognized St. Augustine Music Festival returns in June with a stage full of celebrated guest artists for its 11th season of free classical concerts in the Cathedral Basilica, 38 Cathedral Place, downtown St. Augustine. All six concerts start at 7:30 p.m., playing out over two weekends, June 15-17 and June 22-24. A highlight this year is a duo piano performance June 17 by legendary American pianist Leon Fleisher and his wife, Katherine Jacobson. Fleisher made international headlines when his brilliant concert career was curtailed by a neurological condition that disabled his right hand. He reinvented his musicianship to become the world’s leading presenter of piano repertoire for the left hand alone, and established a second career as a conductor. After years of medical therapies, the pianistic use of his right hand was restored, and his keyboard “comeback” included a 2007 Kennedy Center Honors award, a Grammy-nominated CD and an Oscar-nominated documentary. Admission is free. The popularity of the series, however, means seating is limited and some concerts may require a (free) seating pass. Go to www.StAugustineMusicFestival.org for details.

June 7-Aug. 9: The FREE summer film series called Movies by the Bay will begin at 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday from June 7 through Aug. 9 at NEW LOCATION this year — the Colonial Quarter, 33 Saint George St., hosted by Ripley’s St. Augustine and the Colonial Oak Music Park. Admission is FREE. Stay updated at www.facebook.com/saintaugustineripleys
