Ponte Vedra Beach, FL — Apex Theatre Studio is pleased to announce the opening of its own educational and rehearsal facility in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Located at 5150 Palm Valley Road between Ponte Vedra Beach and the Nocatee area,  APAS (Apex Performing Arts Studio) will offer classes in the performing arts with a specific emphasis in theatre for young artists in the Northeast Florida area.

“We are delighted to have our own space in which to work,” stated Ian Mairs, executive director.

“Our first two years we were blessed to partner with institutions who supported our vision to bring high quality instruction to passionate young artists in Duval and St. Johns counties. But there is nothing like having your own room to play in.”

Started in the summer of 2014, the Apex Theatre Studio has grown from a group of ten advanced-level theater students performing in a summer production of Godspell at St. John’s Cathedral to providing a year round programming calendar which offers classes, workshops and productions to over a hundred students who have demonstrated a marked discipline in their field.

“North Florida is bursting with talent, and in this area in particular there are a significant amount of students who desire afterschool training which is more than just recreational.  Apex was created for this group of students,” stated Matt Morgan, vocal program director and visiting professor at the University of Florida.

In addition to the studio, Apex Theatre Studio will be partnering with the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall to offer a series of signature theatrical events throughout the year which will connect the ever expanding communities in Ponte Vedra, Nocatee and north Saint Augustine.

“We are excited to host both of the summer offerings at the concert hall,” remarked Ryan Murphy, general manager of the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

“Ian has consistently demonstrated his commitment to building community and energizing performance venues in the area.  He and I both firmly believe that this area has the potential to become a frequent destination for world class artists and top notch students,” Murphy added.

In addition to its successful Summer Music Theater Intensives, Apex will also offer day camps in the arts all summer long with a mixtures of classes for students ages 10 to 14, which explore every aspect of the performing arts. A complete schedule is available at apextheatrejax.com.

The Apex Summer Musical Theatre Intensive will present two summer musicals in the PVCH, Stephen Sondheim’s modern classic Into The Woods will run June 24-26 and the contemporary rock musical Godspell will be presented August 4-6.

The studio will offer a full roster of classes in the fall of 2016.
