Area Groups Announce Holiday Plans

 

 

Totally ClubsDEMOCRATIC LUNCHEON

The Democratic Party welcomes Dr. Rachel Cremona, associate professor of political science at Flagler College, as speaker Dec. 5 at the party’s holiday luncheon. Cremona will provide an overview of the 2014 elections as attention turns to the 2016 presidential election.

Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Milan Room of Amici’s Restaurant. Donation is $25, including garden salad, choice of herb-crusted salmon, Chicken Limone or eggplant Parmigian and holiday cookies, and non-alcoholic beverage.

REPU8UBLICAN GATHERING

The Republican Club of Greater St. Augustine fourth annual Christmas party continues fr9om 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the St. Augustine Shrine Club, 250 Brainard Drive. Highlights include music, dancing, food and fun, with DJ Gary Hiatt providing the tunes for listening and dancing. Door prizes, trivia, meet and greet will also be featured, along with a silent auction, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund.

Donation is $10 for guests, free to renewing 2015 members, Those attending are advised that donations for Toys for Tots will be accepted at the gathering.

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT

Haven Hospice, 2497 U.S. 1 South, will conduct volunteer orientation from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 19.

Volunteers are needed for many positions including patient and caregiver, attic/thrift store volunteer, administrative work and pet visitors. All volunteers must complete a background check. WOMEN’S NETWORKING

The Women’s Networking luncheon is planned from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at Le Pavillon, San Marco Avenue.  Those attending are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for an elementary-aged child, and these will be donated to the less fortunate children who reside in West Augustine, a project of a retired elementary school teacher. An envelope for the server for a Christmas tip will also be distributed.

The luncheon is open to the first 40 RSVPs. Donation is $10 plus tip. Those who RSVP and cannot attend are asked to go to www.evite.com and change the status.

The check will prepare a meal of his choosing, usually fish or chicken. Those wishing to order a vegetarian salad must order in advance. Reservations are due by 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Contact Carolyn Mudgette, 540-7004.

 

HAWKE TOUR

A members-only tour is planned Dec. 7 by HAWKE.  The open house continues from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elkton location. A highlight will be release of a rehabilitated bird of prey at 2:30 p.m.

FLAGLER AUXILIARY

The Flagler Hospital Auxiliary will host  an infinite entertainment sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 11; and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Matanzas Conference Room. The board meets at 10 a.m. Dec. 18 in the Houston Conference Room.

Santa Claus will visit the hospital from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Children who visit will receive a special gift. The Light of Hope continues this holiday season at the hospital For information call 819-4411, Proceeds will be donated for continuing support of health services in the community.
