Aug. and Sept.: Sing Out Loud Festival features 100 FREE performances

St. Augustine, Fla. (July 21, 2016) – At a news conference held this morning, the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council announced the Sing Out Loud Festival, the largest free music festival to ever be held in St. Johns County.

Community First Credit Union will present the Sing Out Loud Festival through a three-year commitment – its largest monetary sponsorship ever made in St. Johns County.

The Sing Out Loud Festival will feature over 100 free performances by local and national artists staged throughout St. Augustine over the course of three weekends in late August and early September.

August 26-27, Aug. 31, Sept. 2-3 and September 9-10: The Sing Out Loud Festival is a celebration of music spanning three weekends and featuring free concerts at The Colonial Quarter, in the Plaza de la Constitucion and other downtown venues, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Planet Sarbez, Nobby’s, St. Augustine Beach, and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. Acts include Brandi Carlile, the Indigo Girls, Booker T. Jones, The Travelin’ McCourys, The Original Wailers, Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band, Rhett Miller, Adam Hood, and more than 90 local and national musicians and bands. Community First Credit Union has been a longtime sponsor and partner with the St. Augustine Amphitheatre supporting the annual Night Owl Cinema events as well as many years of December to Remember festivals and concerts. The multi-year commitment to the St. Johns County Cultural Events organization will help support the inaugural and subsequent events that would not be as large without private support.

The Indigo Girls

The Indigo Girls will perform Sept. 9, 2016 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre during the Sing Out Loud Festival.

The Sing Out Loud Festival is a celebration of musicians and songwriters from the great St. Augustine area as well as internationally-recognized artists. Beginning Friday, August 26 and running through September 11, 2016 the community, music fans and visitors are invited to attend over 100 free performances held at various stages including the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the Backyard at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, the Colonial Quarter, the Downtown Plaza, and more.

Official Sing Out Loud After-parties, hosted by Narrow Magazine, will be held at Planet Sarbez and Nobby’s.

All concerts are FREE and open to the public including the Main Showcase featuring Grammy-nominated and award-winning performers Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls, Booker T. Jones and The Travelin’ McCourys which will be held at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on September 9.

While all events are free and open to the public, music fans can secure reserved seats to the September 9 Main Showcase by donating $5 to OneOrlando via TicketMaster or by reserving a Sing Out Loud Hotel package with one of the dozen partner hotels. The Sing Out Loud Festival will be produced by the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, which owns and operates the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with the St. Johns Cultural Council and the Tourist Development Council and will be proudly presented by Community First Credit Union.

The Sing Out Loud Festival is the feature event of the Sounds of Summer Celebration, a variety of arts, culture, music and entertainment events scheduled for August and September in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra. Sounds of Summer events include the Sing Out Loud Festival, Castillo Centennial celebrations, the Spanish Wine Festival, Lincolnville Festival, film and performing art productions, culinary, walking, sporting and arts events among many others.
