Saint Augustine Ballet Holds Auditions for The Nutcracker on August 13

Are you a ballet dancer who has always wanted to dance in The Nutcracker? Saint Augustine Ballet will hold open auditions for their eighth annual production of TheNutcracker on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Abella’s School of Dance. Abella’s is located at 1711 Lakeside Avenue, Unit 9, in Saint Augustine, Florida 32084. All dancers, male and female, who are currently studying ballet are encouraged and invited to try out for a part. Auditions are open to all students of ballet regardless of dance studio affiliations.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. Dancers must be eight years old by September 1, 2016. Auditions begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Auditions for female solos will be done on pointe. A non-refundable $25 fee audition will be charged at the time of registration. Please bring cash or checks made out to Saint Augustine Ballet. An audition for the roles of Angels will be held on another date to be announced.

All female dancers must bring a 4” x 6” photo in First Arabesque to the audition. Male dancers should bring a photo in 6th position. Proper ballet attire is required:  black leotard, pink tights with hair in a bun for females; black pants and white shirt for males.   Once cast, there is an additional non-refundable performance fee of $175 that covers master classes with guest artists, costume rental with fittings, and cast t-shirt. Once cast, dancers will receive a rehearsal and performance schedule. They  must be prepared to commit to the weekly Saturday rehearsal schedule from August, to December and the pre-performance rehearsals held the week of December 12, 2015.  Four performances will take place on Saturday, December 17th and Sunday, December 18th.

All female and male students of dance who are five to seven years old are invited to Saint Augustine Ballet’s open audition for the part of an angel in their eight annual production of The Nutcracker. Auditions are open to all dance students regardless of dance studio affiliations. Auditions will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 11:30a.m. to 12:30p.m.  at Abella’s School of Dance. Tap Your Way into Saint Augustine Ballet’s Nutcracker Auditions

Saint Augustine Ballet is calling for experienced tap dancers, male and female, between the ages of 8 and 18 to open auditions on Saturday, August 13, 2016 for their eight annual production of The Nutcracker. Auditions will be held at Abella’s School of Dance located at 1711 Lakeside Avenue, Unit #9 in Saint Augustine. Registration for tap begins at 12:30 p.m. with auditions from 1:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m.

Auditions are open to all students regardless of dance studio affiliations. However, once cast, dancers must commit to the Saturday rehearsal schedule and the pre-performance rehearsals held the week of December 12, 2016. Performances will take place at 1:30p.m. and 7:00p.m. on Saturday, December 17, and Sunday, December 18th, 2016. in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College located at 14 Granada Street in Saint Augustine.

All dancers, male and female, must bring a head shot to the audition. Bring tap shoes and dress in appropriate tap attire: black leotard, bike shorts, and tights for females; black jazz pants, and white t-shirt for males. A non-refundable $25 audition fee will be charged at the time of registration, cash or check payable to Saint Augustine Ballet.
