August Busy Month For Youth At Ponte Vedra Beach Library

Ponte Vedra Beach Library

Special programs have been planned in August at the Ponte Vedra Branch Library.

Local authors Christie and Anna Shea will be debuting their Florida football picture book Bradford the Camping Kangaroo Meets the Florida Gators which, thanks to the Friends, they’ll be reading, autographing, and signing. Football fan families are encouraged to come out in their favorite colors (Gator or not!) on Aug. 29 for the Family Football Storytime at 11 a.m.

The summer reading programs for children and teens will conclude with a unique program right before school starts back up:  S.T.A.N.D. Against Bullying with Magician Mark Alan – an interactive, engaging, and very worthwhile anti-bullying magic show designed to give kids the tools to deal with bullies and stand up for others. This is the third summer hosting this special magic show, and it provides wonderful messages while being completely fun, according to PBV Library officials.

Finally, due to the immense popularity of the summertime My Little Pony Club, it will continue throughout the school year, once a month, for “everypony” ages 6 – 10. Registration for September, October, and/or November club meetings (all occurring on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) will open Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. by going to the Reference Desk of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library or calling the Library at 827-6950.

The final date for winning prizes for summer reading logs (for children birth – age 10) and teen summer reading bookmark reviews (for ages 11 – 17) is Aug. 1, but reading and fun at our library is year-round! Don’t miss this Friday’s Children’s Magic Shows presented by Teens at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.(repeat performance) or July 25 Teens vs. Adults Trivia Throwdowns for ages 11 and up.
