Betty Griffin 5k Is Event For Peace

5k run

Betty Griffin House proudly announces the third annual Betty Griffin House 5K Run & Walk-A-Thon for PEACE. Slated for April 16 at 8 a.m., this year’s event aims to promote peace in the local community by raising awareness of domestic and sexual abuse in St. Johns County.

The family-friendly race begins at the St. Augustine Beach Pier Pavilion, and takes participants along a route through the beachside communities on Anastasia Island. Participants are welcome to complete the run at their own pace and team participation is encouraged.

Betty Griffin House is the only center in St. Johns County that has provided free services to all victims of domestic and sexual abuse for the past 25 years. Last year, Betty Griffin House received more than 1,900 calls to the crisis hotline and accompanied 41 survivors during the forensic rape exam. The primary purpose of the agency is to provide holistic services that directly relate to the victims’ experience of abuse, which will increase safety and security for both the victim and the family.

In 2015, the race drew 565 walkers/runners and 120 volunteers, raising more than $27,000. All proceeds directly aid Betty Griffin House in saving the lives of domestic and sexual abuse victims in St. Johns County. Race entry is now open for registration. Early bird pricing is in effect until Feb, 29. More information on the race can be found by visiting or calling (904) 808-8544.
