Clybourne Park 2014-15-1From Limelight Theatre

St. Augustine, FL — Clybourne Park will be staged
Nov. 7-30 in Limelight Theatre’s Koger-Gamache Studio space, 11 Old Mission Ave., uptown St. Augustine.

Produced in conjunction with “Lift Up Lincolnville,” Clybourne Park (2010) is a play by Bruce Norris written in response to Lorraine Hansberry’s play, A Raisin in the Sun.

It portrays fictional events set before and after the Hansberry play and is loosely based on historical events that took place in the city of Chicago.

As described by the Washington Post, the play “applies a modern twist to the issues of race and housing and aspirations for a better life.” The play was awarded the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play.

The drama/comedy is written by Bruce Norris and will be directed by Jason Collins.

The cast includes Steve Harden as Russ and Dan; Evelyn Lyman as Bev and Kathy; Rhodie Jackson as Francine and Lena; Matthew Hodges as Jim, Tom and Kenneth; Patric Robinson as Albert and Kevin; Jan Peter Buksar as Karl and Steve; and Kristina Garcia as Betsy and Lindsey.

The Nov. 8 performance will raise funds for the preservation of Eddie Vickers Park in Lincolnville, a gala benefit that will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, as well as an opportunity to learn more about the park preservation project. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling the Limelight box office at 904-825-1164.

In addition, a panel discussion will take place before the performance on Thursday, Nov. 13. Sue Agresta, Chris White, Judith Seraphim and director Jason Collins will be introduced at 7 p.m. and will speak about what is going on in our community and talk about how it relates to the show. This is an educational and community awareness event.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 per person. Free parking is available. For reservations, call the box office at 904-825-1164 or purchase online at limelight-theatre.org.
