 River House Book Club

Join us Tuesday, April 12, at River House, 179 Marine Street, 3:00-4:30 p.m., for a book discussion of “Our Souls at Night” by Ken Haruf.   Joining a book club is a great way to be consistent in your reading, delve deeper into books and make some great friends.

 Dinner and a Movie

Join movie goers at River House, 179 Marine Street on Thursday, April 21, for the showing of “Last Vegas” when aging pals Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Kevin Kline) visit Las Vegas to relive their glory days. Cost is $13 for River House Activity Members and $16 for Non-members. Ticket price includes dinner, movie, a soft drink and popcorn. Beer and wine are available for purchase.  Ballet 101 with Ballet Jorgen

Ballet 101 with Canada’s Ballet Jorgen offers the opportunity to discover ballet as a storytelling medium. Learn about the basic ballet positions and poses, conveying emotion through movement, and see an excerpt from Sleeping Beauty. Sponsored by the EMMA Concert Association. Meet the dancers and join in the fun, 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, at River House, 179 Marine Street. No charge but reservations to 209-3655 appreciated. Canada’s Ballet Jorgen will present the full-length ballet The Sleeping Beauty on Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m., at the Lewis Auditorium on the Flagler College campus.

Wine Appreciation Class

River House, 179 Marine Street, will offer a Wine Journey with Walter Bost, who has been a wine consultant, steward, broker and instructor. Perfect for wine enthusiasts, restaurant service staff and anyone wanting to explore the world of wine. 6-week session begins Tuesday, May 17, from 4:30-5:00 p.m. Registrations now being taken.  Cost to River House members is $50, and $60 to non-members.  There will be a complimentary wine tasting in one class and an optional wine tasting after the last class.  Please call Martha at 209-3543 for more information.

Caring for Adults with Special Needs

The Ponte Vedra Adult Day Care Center is now open at the new Ponte Vedra Memory Care Center, 1048 A1A North. Hours are 7:30am – 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Designed as an activity center for adults who are living at home with a caregiver, and require special supervision, adult day care allows the individual an opportunity to expand their environment and meet new friends, while providing respite time for the caregiver. We specialize in (but are not limited to) the care of those with memory loss due to stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, or other physical changes that require therapeutic assistance.  Call 297-0061 for more information.
