Dec. 23-26: Expect higher than normal tides in coming days

Word comes from the city’s Public Works Department that higher than normal tides are expected later this week, most likely on WednesdaySaturday, December 23-26 from approximately 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m.

Signs will be posted in locations most prone to tidal flooding including along Avenida Menendez south of the Bridge of Lions, Riberia Street, South Street, and streets in the vicinity of Maria Sanchez Lake and Oyster Creek.

Extra caution is urged in these areas. Residents should avoid parking in areas known for tidal flooding and drivers are warned not to drive through standing water.

Offices closed Thursday & Friday, Dec.24-25, and Friday, Jan 1.

Recycling usually collected on Friday will be collected the following day, Saturday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
