Word comes from the cityâ€™s Public Works Department that higher than normal tides are expected later this week, most likelyÂ on Wednesday–Saturday, December 23-26Â from approximatelyÂ 6:30 a.m.Â untilÂ 9 a.m.
Signs will be posted in locations most prone to tidal flooding including along Avenida Menendez south of the Bridge of Lions, Riberia Street, South Street, and streets in the vicinity of Maria Sanchez Lake and Oyster Creek.
Extra caution is urged in these areas. Residents should avoid parking in areas known for tidal flooding and drivers are warned not to drive through standing water.
