Easter Day 2016 will be ushered in St. Augustine with two very special seaside sunrise services.

Thousands gather each Easter day at the Crescent Beach Ramp for a program which begins at 7 a.m. and features special music and an Easter message. Ocean baptisms follow the service.

Worships are advised to bring a chair or a blanket. Dogs are welcomed on a leash.

Hundreds of volunteers, along with law enforcement, are on hand to help with parking and traffic. Early arrival is urged, and all attending are advised that parking spaces are plentiful.

Crescent Beach is located on A1A South, south of St. Augustine Beach. The service is hosted by Crescent Beach Baptist Church.

This year marks the 16th year of the Easter Sunrise worship service on Vilano Beach, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As dawn approaches on Sunday, March 27, volunteers from a number of area churches will be preparing Vilano Beach for worshipers to arrive. Leading the service will be Rev. Sam Schlegel of The Church at Vilano and Rev. Steve Giannetta of the Christian Communion of St. Augustine/Vilano. Members of Anastasia Baptist Church and other churches will also assist with the service.

Beginning at 7:15 a.m. this 45-minute worship service will include songs, scripture readings, a message, and an interpretive dance. The service will have traditional and contemporary music with the message of living with joy and hope found through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who conquered death on a Roman cross.  At 6:45 am, music will be played on the beach for those wanting to meditate as they prepare for worship.

Due to beach conditions, there will be no parking on the beach via the Vilano Road access ramp. An experienced team will direct cars to park in the Publix lot and on-street parking, which includes some handicap places.  People should be prepared to come earlier and walk to the beach.  Cars needing to drop off passengers may use two traffic circles near the beach walkovers and the ramp. The dunes must be protected from walkers and vehicles.  Restrooms are at the beach pavilion and the south walkover.  Attendees may want to bring chairs, blankets, sunglasses, cameras and friends.

The Marketplace Christian Professional Resources will host Easter Sunrise Service from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s historic fort,  Castillo de San Marcos.

Worshipers are asked to bring a blanket or chair for seating. For information, go to upray2.com.

Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church sunrise service begins at 6:45 a.m. at Mickler’s Beach, 1109 1/2 Ponte Vedra Blvd. Those attending are reminded to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. For information, call 285-8225.
