The Second AnnualÂ Maritime Heritage Family Fun DayÂ will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at the historicÂ waterfront of the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, 11 Magnolia Ave.,Â St Augustine.

FamiliesÂ can enjoy model boat building and racing, shipwreck artifacts, youthÂ sailboat rigging, maritime and nature demonstrations, fun exhibits, hands-onÂ activities, knot tying, tug’oâ€™war and other fun games, storytelling, prizes,Â Timucuan Interpretive History, Arquebus demonstrations, cannon firing, an air-conditioned planetarium, informative exhibits, and more.
â€œBubbaâ€burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available forÂ purchase.
You can also meet our volunteer boat builders as they busily bringÂ a sixteenth century replica boat (called a chalupa) and boatyard toÂ life. This boat was used by the sailors to navigate the St. AugustineÂ Inlet from offshore in the 1500s.Â Find out what it was like 450Â years ago to sail these incredible boats that landed on the shores ofÂ St. Augustine.
