Haven Hospice Honors Diane Mahoney

Haven Hospice

Diane Mahoney was the recipient of the Haven Hospice Volunteer of the Year Award for the St. Augustine service area during the recent volunteer appreciation luncheon and awards event at the Haven Hospice  St. Augustine Community Room.

Having worked for over 42 years as a psychiatric nurse, Diane enjoys the interaction with patients, families and clinical staff whether she is working in the administrative office or visiting patients and families. “It is a pleasure to go to Haven Hospice. There is always something to be done, and I enjoy being a part of something that is important. Haven is an inspiring place to volunteer.”

“Diane enjoys talking with the patients and getting to know their caregivers and family members,” said St. Augustine Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Furney.  “She is like family to everyone in the office.  We don’t know what we would do without her.”

Volunteers are a vital member of the Haven Care Team.  They provide companionship, support and assistance to patients residing at home, in assisted living facilities, nursing homes and hospitals. They also reach out to grieving families, assist with administrative tasks, help staff the Attic Resale Store and serve on special event committees.  Haven is proud to have more than 700 community members dedicating their time and talents to patients and families in 18-counties across North Florida.  If you would like more information about volunteering in St. Augustine, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Furney 904.810.2377.
