The ALS  Ice Bucket Challenge is making its way around St. Augustine and St. Johns County. The Dark Star pirate ship from New Jersey has challenged the Black Raven pirate ship in St Augustine to help raise awareness and funds for ALS disease.

“We didn’t want to do it alone so we challenged the Queen Anne’s Revenge, The Tallship Schooner Freedom, Nao Victoria and the El Espiritu to join us,” said staff from the Black Raven.

This will be the First Time Ever that the Tallships of St Augustine will be working together in unison. All five crews will be joining together to tackle the Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Ice Bucket Challenge will take place at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20 on the main deck of the Black Raven, docked at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina, 111 Avenida Menendez.

Nancy Sikes-Kline, the Vice Mayor of the City of St. Augustine, will join the crews. Her Mother, Dr. Sue Middleton, passed away from ALS several years ago.

“We are dedicating this challenge to the memory of Dr. Sue Middleton,” said staff of the Black Raven.

“In addition, we will have a treasure chest in the Black Raven Ship Store until Labor Day for anyone who wants to make a donation to this very worthy cause.”
