Local musician Allie Kelly will perform originals songs on Sunday, June 25 during Music in the Box at Limelight Theatre. Ella Romaine will open the show with covers and original songs as well.

Allie Kelly was on the Limelight stage many years ago in Gypsy as a child, and now attends California State University, majoring in Music Industry Studies. Her parents are Yvan Kelly, a local musician and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Flagler College, and her mother Kris Kelly, a music teacher at St. John’s Academy and a singer in local choruses.

“My musical inspirations are Bon Iver and Radiohead, The Beatles (and specifically Paul McCartney from a songwriting standpoint) and T. Rex,” she said. “So I guess I’m primarily inspired by independent alternative music and older classics/rock.”

Her musical accomplishments: She attended GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles as a songwriter in 2015 and 2016. She has worked with Randy Newman, and she held a successful benefit concert for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center at Miss Porter’s School.

Opening the show is local SJCCA student Ella Romaine, performing cover and original songs on guitar. Ella has been on stage at Limelight during Music in the Box with Davis Loose, and has held roles in many shows including Oliver, Hello Dolly, and The Grapes of Wrath. She’s a sophomore at St. Johns County Center for the Arts, in musical theatre, drama, and chorus.

Music in the Box is held from 6 to 9 p.m. the last Sunday of each month at Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission Ave., uptown St. Augustine. Admission is $5 at the door. Free parking on site and streetside.
