Longest Day Event Benefits Alzheimer’s Efforts

June 21 people across the globe will participate in The Longest Day® to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer’s with a day of activity. St. Johns County Council on Aging’s “Community Care-Giving” program invites residents of St. Johns County to join the community effort to support this worthy cause.  Even the smallest gift makes a big difference in getting us that much closer to a cure.

The Longest Day is a sunrise-to-sunset team event to raise funds to fuel the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. On The Longest Day, thousands will take part in fund raising efforts to honor those living with Alzheimer’s disease and help us get closer to a cure. Participants in The Longest Day are joining a global conversation about Alzheimer’s disease, the brain and other dementias as part of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month in June.

In St. Johns County alone, there are more than 4,000 residents aged 85 and older. Statistics show that over half of this population has some form of dementia.
