March 18-19: St. Augustine’s Irish storyteller Derek Coghlan on stage in Jacksonville

St. Augustine's Derek Coghlan will perform

St. Augustine’s Derek Coghlan will perform March 18-19 during a one-man Swamp Radio show in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville, Florida- Swamp Radio will present Derek Coghlan’s hysterical one man show, I’ll Give You A Day, on Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th at  8:00 p.m. in the grand ballroom at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel located at 245 Water Street in downtown Jacksonville.

“The show is about a man who grew up in the middle of nowhere in the middle of Ireland, who emigrated to America with no idea what he was doing, or where he was going, or what he was going to do once he got there,” states writer-performer Coghlan.

“The play focuses on emigration, culture shock, small southern towns, guilt, unemployment, lunacy, and the fabulous assortment of wonderfully odd people he meets along the way,” added Coghlan.

“Derek has been an audience favorite since he set foot onstage of the Florida Theatre during our first year,” states Swamp Radio host and producer, Ian Mairs.

“It takes a special set of skills to hold an audience’s attention in a one on one setting, Derek gets the audience to connect to his stories from the get-go.  The evening is hilarious, provocative and touching,” states Mairs.

“We are excited to host this event. Our last partnering effort with Ian Mairs (the musical Spring Awakening) was a sold out success and created a wonderful excitement within our building.  It was clearly a memorable experience for our patrons, which is what we are all about,” remarked Burnell Goldman, general manager for the Omni.

Tickets for the show ($20-$25)  are available at or can be purchased via Eventbrite. Seating is limited and pre-sale is strongly encouraged.
