PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL — The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach and Love Your Mother are bringing the Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show to Ponte Vedra Beach on March 31. Tickets and VIP Passes are available online at ccpvb.org. Proceeds will go to support the non-profit and its programs including Sound Connections which provides music therapy for children with special needs in local schools.
This special event will feature the models clothed in fastastical fashion handcrafted from reused materials including aluminum cans, dryer lint, bicycle tubes, plastic bags, magazines, and even used canvases.
Twelve designers and design groups and more than 50 models are participating in this year’s event. Designers include opening show designer Lucero Gleaton, 9-year-old Ayla Gray of Ayla’s Industrials, the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Jennifer Mcmanaway, Donna McCarthy, Halle Elizabeth, Laura O’Neal, Robin Hottinger, Erin Healy Designs, the founder of St. Augustine Fashion Week Brittany Alphonso, Ejo Fox, Colleen Loughlin, Susan Cafiso, and Juliana Koutouzakis. The fashion lines will cover themes such as the Industrial Revolution, Coming to America, the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and The Painter.
“This Fashion Show is like no other in this area; think Paris, Milan, NYC, LA and add theatrics to it. This event is a sell out. Hurry to get your tickets,” said the Cultural Center’s Executive Director and LYM Eco Fashion Show Chair, Donna Guzzo.
“We are grateful for Kristy Weeks and Julianna Koutouzakis, for allowing us to borrow the concept to benefit the Cultural Center. A shout out to Julio Gomez and to Alfredo Garcia of Sight & Sound for all of their help with production.”
This exciting evening will include not only a fashion show but dance performances from the Ignite Arts Collaborative. Honoring the beauty and wonder of nature, Ignite Arts Collaborative (IAC) brings together dancers from Ponte Vedra Ballet/Fusion Performing Arts Academy and local professional guest dance artists to premiere “Mother Earth/ Heart Beats,” a dynamic contemporary dance piece choreographed by the Ignite Artist-in-Resident at the Ponte Vedra Ballet & Dance Company, JoAnna Ursal.
Costume design by Victoria Long and certified organic eco-
biodegradable make-up donated by Hoda Tawk, owner of OrganicAroma USA based in Jacksonville Beach and masterfully rendered by make-up artist, MacKenzie Stewart. Additionally, an intermission piece of an Irish Step dance choreographed by Delaney O-Shea will be performed. Sound engineering for the dances will be provided by Chris Flowers from A1A Audio Productions in Jacksonville Beach. This collaborative bringing together dance and fashion promises to be a memorable experience for everyone.
An exhibition of photographs displaying the artistry of Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show Designers from 2017 is being exhibited at the Cultural Center March 9-April 21. This exhibition of works by Christine Cousart and Shelley Gill of Cousart Studios is brought to life by displays of some of the outlandish costumes designed by Juliana Koutouzakis, both displayed on the walls and worn by models during the Opening Reception. This exhibition gives a sneak peek into what can be expected at the Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show on March 31.
Tickets and VIP Passes are available online at ccpvb.org.
