Corpse!, set in London in 1936, is not so much a whodunnit as a whodunnit to whom! As with most fool proof plans, things do not go as they should and people are not what they seem.
Corpse! is on stage March 8-31 on Limelight Theatre’s Matuza Main Stage, 11 Old Mission Ave., in uptown St. Augustine. Free parking is available on site and street-side. For tickets, go to limelight-theatre.org or call 904-825-1164.
Directed by Matthew Whaley and sponsored by CycleHere Media, the cast includes Chris MacEwan playing the lead roles of Evelyn and Rupert. MacEwan’s early acting career included work on All My Children, One Life to Live, and Saturday Night Live.
The cast also includes James “Dez” Desmond as Powell; Francesca Bellavista as Mrs. McGee; and Andy Nance as Hawkins.
“Like a good game of Clue, Corpse! is that classic whodunit with an added dash of slapstick comedy and sibling rivalry. At its core this is a show about family and secrets and how those secrets can either create an everlasting bond, or lead to years of resentment and ultimately revenge,” said director Matthew Whaley.
“The inspiration for the show came from so many different places and thoughts – from the 1960 looks and sounds, to the Clue inspired costumes, and the Copperfield-esque special effects.”
