May 17: Second Annual Children’s Arts Festival at St. Augustine Amphitheatre

Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre (FOSAA) invites the public to the Second Annual Gathering of  Friends: Children’s Arts Festival.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340 A1A South, St. Augustine.

This is a FREE event that will take place rain or shine. Goody bags and free T-shirts will be available for children until they run out.

Come early and stay late– there’s lots to do and concessions will be open throughout the event.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. See the list below for activities available.

ART

  • Create a nature painting with Kimmy Van Kooten
  • Make a puppet with Rick Greenough, Crookshank Puppets
  • Visit The Anonymous Society of Artists for creative sandcastles to go
  • Paint a picture with artist Karyn Bunt
  • Make a collage with Jackie Rock of Rock Art Studio
  • Art on the Go: An artsy Un-birthday Party with Jaime Bernstein
  • Make seashell creations with Gwen Duvall

ORGANIZATIONS

  • Stop by TAG Children’s Museum of St. Augustine for fun activities
  • Pirate fun with the Ancient City Privateers
  • Play musical games at the St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts (SACSPA) booth
  • PBS WJCT will be there: Meet favorite cartoon friends
  • Visit St. Johns Public Library for craft activities
  • Stop at St. Augustine Garrison for jewelry making, crafts and fun
  • Bookmobile: stop in and say “hello”
  • Hit the mat with WGV Gymnastics

POETRY, STORY TELLING, THEATRE GAMES

  • Plant a Poem with Ancient City Poets
  • Grow a Story with the Tale Tellers
  • Play theatre games with Limelight Theatre Education Program
  • Experience Grampa’s Music Instrument petting zoo
  • Learn to play a Native American flute with Stephan Fritz
  • Learn about playing the hammered dulcimer with Robert Burns
  • Build a drum and join a drum circle with Alex Hayward

DANCE AND ENTERTAINMENT ON THE STAGE

  • Skin ‘n Bones: Join in for an Old Florida Hoedown
