Lawn Professional Course
Lawn care professional and landscaper, who apply fertilizer are required by State Law to have a license in order to apply fertilizers. This is now a statewide requirement. GI-BMP class certificate indicating you received a passing grade is a pre-requisite to applying for this license.
The St. Johns County Extension and IFAS University of Florida are offering the GI-BMP Class Jan. 27 fromÂ 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. atÂ St. Johns County Wind Mitigation Building,Â 3111 Agricultural Center Drive. Cost is $25, including lunch and all materials. Â Pre-registration is required by Jan. 22.
Â Soil preparation should be done 4-6 weeks before planting a production bed, so it is time to plan and prepare for the spring vegetable garden.
Feb. 5, the St. Johns County Extension Office will be conducting a class on this topic at the St. Johns County Extension Office, 3125 Agricultural Center Drive and run from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
In the class students will learn about amending the garden plot, vegetable varieties to grow for spring and gardening techniques. If you have not had a soil pH analysis done in several years you may also want to bring a 1 pint soil sample to submit for free testing. You must pre-register for the class.
