Saint Augustine Ballet to hold Nutcracker auditions Aug. 15

Are you a ballet dancer who has always wanted to dance in The Nutcracker? Saint Augustine Ballet will hold open auditions for the seventh annual production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, August 15 at Abella’s School of Dance, 1711 Lakeside Avenue, Unit 9, in St. Augustine.

All dancers, male and female, who are currently studying ballet are encouraged and invited to try out for a part. Auditions are open to all students of ballet regardless of dance studio affiliations.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. Dancers must be eight years old by September 1, 2015. Auditions begin promptly at 9 a.m. Auditions for female solos will be done on pointe. A non-refundable $25 fee audition will be charged at the time of registration. Please bring cash or checks made out to Saint Augustine Ballet.

All dancers, male and female, must bring a 4” x 6” photo in First Arabesque to the audition. Proper ballet attire is required: Black leotard, pink tights with hair in a bun for females; black pants and white shirt for males.

Once cast, there is an additional non-refundable performance fee of $175 that covers master classes with guest artists, costume rental with fittings, and cast T-shirt.

Once cast, dancers must commit to the weekly Saturday rehearsal schedule and the pre-performance rehearsals held the week of December 14, 2015.

Four performances will take place at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium at 2 and 7:30 p.m.  Saturday, December 19 and  Sunday, December 20, 2015. Guest artists for The Nutcracker 2015 will be announced soon.
