The St. Augustine Shrine Club is gearing up for a busy fall, following a summer break.

Good news for those who love Johnny and Beanie’s fried chicken. The monthly friend chicken dinners at the Shrine Club resume Sept. 26, with dinner also served Oct. 31.

The events are open to the public.

Serving is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moultrie Clubhouse, and donation is $10.

Also upcoming is the 30th annual Great Chowder Debate. That is Nov. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Conch House Marina and Resort, 57 Comares Ave., Davis Shores.

Proceeds benefit the Shrine Hospitals for Children.

More than 30 local restaurants will donate their time and chowders  to help raise money for the Shrine Hospitals for Children, while they compete for bragging rights as the chowders are judged by an independent panel as well as by the people who attend the debate.

The members of the St. Augustine Shrine Club hope that lots of local folk

will come out to sample some fabulous chowder.

Free satellite parking is at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with free shuttle service courtesy of the Red Trains.
