St. Augustine Orchestra on stage Oct. 31

St. Augustine Orchestra

From the St. Augustine Orchestra

The St. Augustine Orchestra, under the direction of William McNeiland, announces its 2014-2015 season performance schedule. This year, the orchestra will perform five concerts — four at Lightner Museum and one as part of the EMMA Concert series at Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College — both in downtown St. augustine.

The orchestra will begin the concert season at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 in the historic Lightner Museum, 25 Granada St. The Gilded Age ambiance of the former Alcazar Hotel comes to life with beautiful orchestral music in the location of what was once the largest indoor swimming pool in the world.

See the full concert schedule below. Access up-to-date information and purchase tickets on the SAO website, www.StAugustineOrchestra.org.  For the first time ever, the orchestra will be selling season tickets which allow patrons to purchase tickets for the season at a discount.

The orchestra is also looking for new members to expand the orchestra. Membership is open to accomplished musicians who can demonstrate proficiency on their instrument. For more information, contact Victoria Scarlett at 904-655-7944.

The St. Augustine Orchestra is committed to expanding the awareness and appreciation of orchestral music. It has a proven tradition of increasingly sophisticated performances and is a foundation of St. Augustine’s cultural, artistic and historic legacy. The St. Augustine Orchestra is one of the longest running cultural entities in St. Augustine, numbering about 60 members, all of whom perform on a voluntary basis.

The Friends of the Orchestra was formed to support the orchestra’s operations by providing volunteer assistance within four committee categories: Concert Support, Hospitality, Marketing & Public Relations, and Planning & Implementing Fundraising Social Events. Persons interested in joining the Friends of the Orchestra to participate in the work of any of these committees should contact Linda Masterson at staugustineorchestra@gmail.com.
