The Garden Club of St. Augustine partnered with the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library July 11 to sponsor the 8th annual Nature Detective Workshops for St. Johns County Public Library System, and both workshops were filled to capacity.

This year, the group studied two pollinators, says Anne S. Crawford, assistant branch manager – dragonflies and hummingbirds – and thanks to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants who designed the workshops; the Sisterhood and Las Adelfas Circle of the Garden Club who presented the workshops; and the Nease High School Arts in Motion Club who presented the craft, children ages 6 – 12 and their families had a fun and educational time at the library.

“These workshops are taking place at five St. Johns County Public Library branches this summer and having hosted all eight years, I can say these were the best yet,” says Crawford. “We are grateful to the Garden Club of St. Augustine, the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, and Southern Horticulture for the Nature Detective notebooks and gardening goodies every child who attended received. Next summer, we are looking to add St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department as a partner for our library system’s workshops.”
