Former St. Augustine resident Ira L. Inman and St. Augustine resident Karen Rathmell are semi-finalists in the American Quilter’s Society Show at Chattanooga, Tenn., chosen for their quilt, Blazing Compass.

Quilts were entered in this international contest from 36 U.S. states and six other countries.  Of the quilts entered, 170 were selected by the jurors for display in Chattanooga.

Inman, who now resides in White Pine, Tenn., has continued her contact with St. Johns County quilting groups. For the past six summers she’s provided fabric and squares for children attending quilt camp at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center, says Patty Girvan, advisor for the quilt camp and leader of the Busy Bees 4-H Club.

She also designed and donated a quilt which was raffled off to benefit 4-H.

Rathmell, Girvan adds, has also assisted with youth quilting efforts in past years.
