From The St. Augustine Humane Society

The St. Augustine Humane Society has completed its fundraising efforts with the Pin Up Paws pet calendar for 2016. This is the fifth year with a record-breaking $15,182 raised to support the non-profit’s mission to promote healthy lifelong pet ownership and reducing the rate of relinquishment to shelters.  The “Sit” calendar features a special photo theme with local pets on their favorite forbidden chairs and accessorized according to the breed or type and period of furniture.

The following three top pets and individuals are winners of the Pin Up Paws photo contest with highest number of public votes. Each dog raised more than $1,000 and will be featured in the 2016 calendar:

  • June Carter -    Adam Whittington, St. Augustine
  • Fletcher  –     Jim and Nancy Watson, St. Augustine
  • Logan  –    Dave Snellen, St. Augustine

Additional programs that will benefit from the promotion include the non-profit’s charity pet clinic, low-cost spay neuter program, dog training classes, pet food bank, grooming services, and the Humane Society’s re-homing assistance.  The organization’s “Pin Up Paws” calendar fundraiser started in June with donors who submitted a photo of their pet to be featured in the 2016 calendar. There was a $5 charge to submit the photos and friends voted for the pet for the owners to win prizes.

The fundraiser’s deadline for pet photo submissions was in mid- August with public voting completed during that time. All winners were determined by online public voting with $1 per vote. Visit the website to view the winning pet photos and descriptions at
