Heroes and Pups 2022 calendar features St. Johns County firefighters and dogs

Junior Service League of St. Augustine creates photo calendar to help community nonprofits

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — After much success in 2021 with the Essential Workers calendar, The Junior Service League of St. Augustine announces the second annual calendar, Heroes and Pups 2022. This new wall calendar features St. Johns County firefighters alongside precious pups and kittens belonging to either league members or rescues from Ayla’s Acres. All proceeds from the calendar will benefit local non-for-profits in St. Johns County.

“The Junior Service League is excited to continue with our second year of Hero Themed calendars. During the height of the pandemic, the Junior Service League of St. Augustine designed an Essential Hero Calendar highlighting St. Johns finest essential heroes,” said Gini Solano, the 2022 President-Elect.

“Going into 2021, we decided to continue the calendar based on our successful fundraising efforts from the last calendar. Our 2022 calendar represents St. Johns Fire Rescue. Thanks to Chris Pacetti with the City of St. Augustine Fire and Gretchen with the St. Johns County Fire Department, we were able to coordinate various photo shoots with local photographer Suzanne Henry that is sure to bring a smile to everyone that sees it! The calendar will feature many members of the fire department at various fire houses and locations around St. Augustine. The pups and kittens features belong either to Ayla’s Acres or league members. In these challenging times, we must think outside of the box. We love our community and we refuse to give up, we will continue to find ways of raising funds that are donated right back to our community. We hope you enjoy the 2022 Heroes and Pups Calendar as much as we do!”

Real Estate Agent and photographer Suzzane Henry graciously donated her time again this year for the beautiful photos, and Dennis Lockwood donated his time to design the calendar and prepare it for print.

Each calendar page is sponsored by a local business, offsetting the cost of printing to ensure that all proceeds go back into the community.

About the Junior Service League of St. Augustine, Inc.

In 1935 a group of dedicated women came together to address civic, social, and cultural needs in the Nation’s Oldest City. Through world wars and personal struggles, national triumphs and family milestones, the Junior Service League of St. Augustine has triumphed in remaining a strong organization with a heritage as rich and vibrant as the historically unique community that they support.

The League is committed to the traditions and legacy of their organization in promoting the privilege of volunteerism in St. Johns County. Never ones to be afraid of a challenge, League members’ past and current projects include beginning and directing a speech and hearing clinic, organizing and managing a thrift store, renovating and refurbishing our St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, and conceptualizing and directing Willich Kids Bridge Family Visitation Center. Through the dedication of their members, both active and sustaining, along with the generous community response they continue to receive, the League has supported the aforementioned endeavors, both financially and emotionally with great pride. And so it is with honor for our traditions and joy in our accomplishments that we ask you to join with us as we proudly celebrate over eighty five years of service.
