December 5: Tidings of Joy choir performance at Ancient City Baptist Church

The Sanctuary Choir of Ancient City Baptist Church will present the musical Tidings of Joy this Sunday, December 5, at the 11:00 AM morning service.

Tidings of Joy is a musical created by Joseph M. Martin.  The musical is filled with high-energy celebration songs, warm nostalgic moments, fresh contemporary settings, seasonal favorites, and meaningful worship moments. The work is called a Celtic Christmas Celebration because of the favorite tunes of Ireland, Scotland and Wales used by the composer/arranger.

Joseph M. Martin states, “Christmas brings to the heart an extravagant joy that is difficult to express in words along.  Each year, its wonder-filled message decorates our lives with sparkling music and jubilant moments of praise.  Christmas speaks to us in miracles and wonders, sings to us in the voices of angels, and whispers to us in shimmering starlight.  Christmas joy wraps us in the beautiful, surrounds us with song, and cradles us in arms of promise. So then, let the music of joy sound again!”

The 30-voice choir is under the direction of Curtis Powell.  Guest narrator for the program is actress Chelsye P. Ginn. Soloists include vocalists from within the ACBC Sanctuary Choir;   Sharon Haszard and Cindy Pitts, and guest vocalists Jane Mathis and Carrie Thornton. A Celtic consort will accompany the choir.

Ancient City Baptist Church is located in downtown St. Augustine on the corner of Sevilla and Carrera Streets.  The program is free and the public is invited to attend. There is free parking for all who attend. The program will also be live-streamed at AncientCityBaptist.org.
