St. Augustine, FL — Apex Theatre Studio will present the classic newlywed comedy Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simonon September 20-27 at its black box theatre in the World Golf Village area of St. Augustine, Florida.
Paul and Corrie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. If the adage “opposites attract” holds true, these two collide daily as they set up house in an overpriced, underwhelming fifth-floor studio apartment in the New York of the 1960s. Throw Corrie’s uptight and nervous mother and a cagey but charming upstairs neighbor into the mix, and a forty-eight-hour marathon of hilarious plot twists takes the couple on a rocky voyage of self-discovery.
First produced on the Broadway stage in 1963, featuring a star-making performance by a young Robert Redford, this chronicle of young love has withstood the comedy test of time. It features Apex Theatre Studio faculty Isabel Dondero and Joshua Sewell as Paul and Corrie.
“We wanted to kick off the season with something light and breezy,” said Ian Mairs, Managing Director.
Performances are September 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the studio, located at 425 West Town Place, Unit 112, in the World Golf Village neighborhood.
