Apex Theatre Studio will present two winter studio shows designed to delight and surprise audiences with a Disney favorite (Aladdin Kids) and a contemporary work full of fantastical creatures (She Kills Monsters).
When the street urchin, Aladdin, vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie’s magic power to become a prince to marry her. Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more are here in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS, a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love. It features students from the musical theatre workshop ages nine and up. “There are so many wonderful songs in this show,” commented Isabel Dondero, director, “we encourage the audience to sing along,” Dondero added.
Next weekend, the advanced acting workshop will present Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters-a rowdy and touching comedy set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Teenager Agnes sets out on her first campaign to uncover her recently deceased sister’s backstory. It is action packed, laugh filled and recommended for ages thirteen and up.
