At the UF/IFAS Hastings Agriculture Extension Center, the county agriculture agent has a half-acre pumpkin demonstration supported by St. Johns County BOCC. The 12-variety plot is intended to demonstrate how to produce edible pumpkins for local retail markets. With the surplus pumpkins available post-research analysis, we have an opportunity to provide pumpkins grown by the UF farm staff to our community through 4-H. Our brand new 4-H project includes agribusiness and marketing through produce sales, along with food safety and the culinary arts. Help us support our youth projects and raise funds for future educational programs that focus on ag sciences. We hope to expand this project into public schools within SJC as we grow our financial support.
Pumpkins can be picked up on Thurs., 10/28/21 from 11:30am-6pm:
