October 27-28: St. Johns County Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted House takes place from 6:30-10 p.m. October 20-21 and October 27-28 at 4025 Lewis Speedway St. Augustine. Once the door slams shut behind you, the only way to go is forward. The doors are all locked, the walls are moving, the floors are crawling, and the screams seem to come from everywhere. Halloween Spectacular at the Colonial Quarter

October 27-30: Take a spooky adventure through the haunted grounds of the Colonial Quarter, 33 St. George St., downtown St. Augustine. Halloween Spectacular will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. October 27-30. The event includes a pirate ship complete with a full crew of skeleton pirates, a mermaid grotto with live mermaids, the Rustier Cutlass Pirate Band, and a creepy cemetery with historic St. Augustine stories. Cost is $12 for adults and $7 for children. The event benefits Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue. Tickets are available at the gate.

4-H Pumpkin Sale

October 28: The local 4-H Pumpkin Club will offer locally grown pumpkins at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The pumpkins were grown in the St. Johns County Ag Center’s variety trial plot — an assortment of colors and uses! 

Trick-or-Treat and Harvest Festival at the Ximenez-Fatio House

October 28: The 4th annual Trick-or-Treat and Harvest Fest will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, October 28 at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street, downtown St. Augustine. This must-attend community event features an afternoon of safe trick-or-treating fun, tours of our 225-year-old museum, contests, games, and fun for children of all ages. Costumes are not required but are heavily encouraged. All proceeds raised will go towards the preservation of our 2nd Spanish Period Coquina Museum. Admission is free. Donations are accepted. 

All Hallows Eve Third Annual Charity Bash

October 28: Local pirate group, The Krewe of the 13, will hold the All Hallows Eve Third Annual Charity Bash on Saturday, October 28 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the St. Augustine Elks Lodge, 1420 A1A S., St. Augustine on Anastasia Island. Ancient City Kids Day

October 28: The 26th annual Ancient City Kids Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine. Coordinated by EPIC and brought to the community by a committee of children organizations, Ancient City Kids Day is a day of fun-filled activities for children and families. The event is FREE for the public, and will include over 40 youth service agencies offering carnival style games and activities, arts and crafts, contests for kids, and live entertainment all day. Information about community resources will be available for parents. There will  be free t-shirts/goody bags for kids while they last. The only cost to the public will be for food or drinks. Spookley the Square Pumpkin at Limelight Theatre

October 28-29: Spookley The Square Pumpkin will be on stage at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. October 28-29 at Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission, uptown St. Augustine. The musical tells the story of a square pumpkin living in a round pumpkin patch on Holiday Hill Farm. Shunned by the other pumpkins, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders who convince him that, square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch. Encouraged by kindly Jack Scarecrow, Spookley tries his best, but he isn’t sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens Holiday Hill Farm. Spookley realizes it is up to him and his square shape to save the day. As a result, all the pumpkins in the patch learn that the things that make you different make you special. Trick-or-Treating on Saint George Street

October 29: Trick-or-Treating will take place from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 29 at participating locations on Saint George Street in historic St. Augustine, Florida. This annual event is hosted by Ancient City Tours and the St. George Street Area Merchants. Children in costume are invited to trick or treat area businesses that have balloons or a welcome sign posted at the door. There will be a photographer at 12 St. George Street to capture the photos of all of the cute goblins, princes, princesses, and super heroes. Admission is free.

Threading the Margins Textile Arts Exhibition features 17 local artists

On view through November 30:  Threading the Margins, an Art in Public Spaces exhibition, will be on display from September 5 through November 30 at the St. Johns County Administration Building, Rotunda Gallery, 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine. Seventeen local artists were selected following an open call to participate in the exhibition which also includes antique garments and samplers from the collections of the Peña-Peck House and Ximenez-Fatio House museums. Participating artists include Kathryn Arango, Sherry Buckingham Peck, Susan Cockerham, Gretchen Crawford, Amy Hemphill Dove, Deborah Hossbach, Jenny Keyser, Courtney Krug,  An Marshall, Melissa May, Laura Mongiovi, Elizabeth Odiorne, Linda Schultz, Juanelle Strickland Marshall, Diane Thompson Cortese, Laura Towne, and Cindy Wilson. The Music Man at Limelight Theatre 

September 28-October 22: The Music Man will open Limelight Theatre’s 32rd season. The musical will be on stage September 28 through October 22. The show runs Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee every Sunday. When Harold Hill, a traveling con man, arrives in River City, he convinces the locals to start a band by purchasing the uniforms and instruments from him. His intention is to flee as soon as he receives the money. Librarian Marian Paroo suspects Harold is a fraud but holds her tongue since her moody brother, Winthrop, is excited about the band. First Friday Art Walk

October 6: Hosted by Art Galleries of St. Augustine, Friday Friday Art Walk will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, August 4 in 20+ St. Augustine art galleries! View new art exhibits and enjoy refreshments, cash bars at some galleries, and live entertainment. There are over 20 member galleries, each with its own style, located in and around the downtown area and over the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island and St. Augustine Beach. Master Gardeners Plant Sale, Plant Clinic & Garden Tours

October 20-21: The St. Johns County Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale, plant clinic and garden tours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 20-21 at the Ag Center, 3125 Agricultural Center Dr, St. Augustine. The sale offers locally grown Florida-friendly plans, gardening advice from Master Gardener Volunteers, and tours of the demonstration gardens on site.

Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail

October 20-21 and October 27-28: St. Johns County Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted House takes place from 6:30-10 p.m. October 20-21 and October 27-28 at 4025 Lewis Speedway St. Augustine. Once the door slams shut behind you, the only way to go is forward. The doors are all locked, the walls are moving, the floors are crawling, and the screams seem to come from everywhere. Vilano Vibe-Rations Music Festival

October 21Catch the beach vibe at the 2023 Vilano Beach music festival, taking place from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at North Shores Community Park, 120 Meadow Avenue, in Vilano Beach. October 21: Old Town Trolley and Investing in Kids (INK) will host the annual Jail Break 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 21, 2023! Cracker Day 

October 21: The St. Johns County Cattlemen’s Association will host the annual Cracker Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds, 5840 S.R. 207, in Elkton. The event will feature pony rides, horse games, food trucks including barbecue, and a farmers market with 75+ area vendors. Cracker Day celebrates cracker horses and cracker cattle, which were brought to the area by the Spanish. “Cracker” also refers to a cowboy who uses a whip to round up cattle, which makes a cracking sound when used. Halloween Spectacular at the Colonial Quarter

October 27-30: Take a spooky adventure through the haunted grounds of the Colonial Quarter, 33 St. George St., downtown St. Augustine. Halloween Spectacular will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. October 27-30. The event includes a pirate ship complete with a full crew of skeleton pirates, a mermaid grotto with live mermaids, the Rustier Cutlass Pirate Band, and a creepy cemetery with historic St. Augustine stories. 4-H Pumpkin Sale

October 28: The local 4-H Pumpkin Club will offer locally grown pumpkins at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The pumpkins were grown in the St. Johns County Ag Center’s variety trial plot — an assortment of colors and uses! 

Trick-or-Treat and Harvest Festival at the Ximenez-Fatio House

October 28: The 4th annual Trick-or-Treat and Harvest Fest will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, October 28 at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street, downtown St. Augustine. This must-attend community event features an afternoon of safe trick-or-treating fun, tours of our 225-year-old museum, contests, games, and fun for children of all ages. Costumes are not required but are heavily encouraged. All proceeds raised will go towards the preservation of our 2nd Spanish Period Coquina Museum. Admission is free. Donations are accepted. 

All Hallows Eve Third Annual Charity Bash

October 28: Local pirate group, The Krewe of the 13, will hold the All Hallows Eve Third Annual Charity Bash on Saturday, October 28 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the St. Augustine Elks Lodge, 1420 A1A S., St. Augustine on Anastasia Island. The event includes live music, costume contests, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and many silent auction items. The charity event will support local families in need. Bad Boys of Opera

October 28: Back by popular demand! EMMA Concert Association hosts the Bad Boys of Opera at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28 in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College. The group featuries highly acclaimed vocalists, with individual performance credits including The Metropolitan Opera, NY City Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Philadelphia Opera Company, as well as appearance at Carnegie Hall, with the Boston Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and Chicago Symphony! Ancient City Kids Day

October 28: The 26th annual Ancient City Kids Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine. Coordinated by EPIC and brought to the community by a committee of children organizations, Ancient City Kids Day is a day of fun-filled activities for children and families. The event is FREE for the public, and will include over 40 youth service agencies offering carnival style games and activities, arts and crafts, contests for kids, and live entertainment all day. Information about community resources will be available for parents. There will  be free t-shirts/goody bags for kids while they last. The only cost to the public will be for food or drinks. Spookley the Square Pumpkin at Limelight Theatre

October 28-29: Spookley The Square Pumpkin will be on stage at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. October 28-29 at Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission, uptown St. Augustine. The musical tells the story of a square pumpkin living in a round pumpkin patch on Holiday Hill Farm. Shunned by the other pumpkins, Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders who convince him that, square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch. Encouraged by kindly Jack Scarecrow, Spookley tries his best, but he isn’t sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens Holiday Hill Farm. Spookley realizes it is up to him and his square shape to save the day. As a result, all the pumpkins in the patch learn that the things that make you different make you special. Trick-or-Treating on Saint George Street

October 29: Trick-or-Treating will take place from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 29 at participating locations on Saint George Street in historic St. Augustine, Florida. This annual event is hosted by Ancient City Tours and the St. George Street Area Merchants. Children in costume are invited to trick or treat area businesses that have balloons or a welcome sign posted at the door. There will be a photographer at 12 St. George Street to capture the photos of all of the cute goblins, princes, princesses, and super heroes. Admission is free.
