City Gate Spirits, located on historic Saint George Street in downtown St. Augustine, will launch the first two flavors of their long-awaited whiskey line on Friday, November 13th. The brand-new whiskey offerings complement their existing line of easy-sipping spirits—including rum, vodka, and moonshine—inspired by Florida’s most memorable flavors.
City Gate Spirits recently celebrated their first anniversary in early October. In the past year, their zealous production team distilled and blended over 50,000 bottles of flavored moonshine, rum, and vodka on-site in the heart of the historic district. As distillers bring the spirits to life, visitors are invited to observe the distilling process and participate in daily free tastings hosted by friendly “Spirit Guides.”
Now, just in time for St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights celebration, City Gate Spirits will launch their first ever whiskey products in two seasonally inspired flavors: Smoked Maple and Cinnamon. Each hand-bottled whiskey is 30% alcohol by volume (60 proof) and retails for $35.
An ideal gift for any spirit-lover, both flavors embrace the holiday season. A warm, fiery elixir, the Cinnamon Whiskey combines sweet notes of cinnamon spice with a kick of heat on the tastebuds. Differently, the Smoked Maple Whiskey is a sweet sip of autumn comfort in a glass. The whiskey features notes of maple, brown sugar and charred oak mingled with a touch of spice, and finishes with a smooth butterscotch sweetness.
Production Manager and Head Distiller Richard DeMontmollin shares “This whiskey has been in the works for us since day one. We are excited to see our first two whiskey flavors finally come to fruition so we can share them with you. The incorporation of a high rye bourbon into these flavored whiskeys brings a unique spice and sense of warmth that creates a truly rich and balanced flavor to the palette.”
