Apex Theatre Studio continues its mainstage performance series with a contemporary adaptation of the beloved young adult novel, Little Women, in the black box space at Apex Theatre Studio located in World Golf Village. TICKETS: www.apextheatrejax.com/events/
Playwright Heather Chrisler’s playful and fun take on the March sisters gives a contemporary feel to this classic. Five actors in an attic retell Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel. Using found objects from across time (balloons, hula hoops, ribbon dancers, and more), the players create scenes of love, loss, and the ever-glowing warmth of the March family hearth. Jo goes on a journey of artistic self-discovery and coming of age as she struggles to become the writer she longs to be amid the classic triumphs and troubles of Meg, Beth, Amy, and even Laurie.
“We wanted to create an outing for the whole family during the chilly winter months,” remarked director Ian Mairs. “The overall vibe of the show is a cozy tale rendered with flurries of humor and tenderness,” added Mairs.
The company features six female actors from the St. Johns County area.
Apex Theatre Studio mainstage performance series is sponsored in part by the St. Johns Cultural Council and the St. Johns Tourist Development Council.
