THE STORY
The private detective duo of Dr. Jason Longfellow and his nurse wife Chelsea are a hilarious hot mess. As a bored doctor, the PI thing was originally Jason’s idea. But it turns out Chelsea’s the exceptional detective. Jason not so much. When these two go to work, it’s often a race between her solving the case and strangling Jason.
John and his wife live in St. Augustine, Florida. He enjoys writing, short walks on the beach, driving his Subaru WRX, and long naps. His favorite authors are Dave Barry and Janet Evanovich and his heroes Steve Martin, Gene Wilder, and Mel Brooks. Studies have shown that laughter really is the best medicine, and you don’t even need a doctor’s prescription for John’s books. Stop by the Ximenez-Fatio House on Saturday September 19 to meet John at his book launch and signing.
AIsRYourFriends Brief Synopsis:
AIsRYourFriends includes A VERY TIMELY PLOT INVOLVING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. The madcap couple that makes up the private eye firm Chelsea Longfellow, PI and Associate (her dysfunctional husband Jason) must navigate the insane world of artificial intelligence to catch a killer. Jason’s first foray into AI involves setting up their smart home, which insists on repeatedly ordering Chinese takeout and vacuuming the cat. A belligerent smart home, an arrogant robotaxi, AI pets, drones, sex bots and super soldiers; what does this complicated chaos have to do with the deaths of several adulterous senior executives from a local drug company? Several clues lead the PI duo to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, where Jason breaks one of the attendants with his irritatingly irrational interrogation techniques. When an AI drone blows up his old pickup truck, Jason suspects they are getting close to solving the case. But the world of AI is unpredictable, and nothing is ever as it seems. The twists and turns will make you dizzy, and smile.
