Apex Theatre Studio continues its summer season with the madcap and mysterious stage version of The 39 Steps (abridged) at The Waterworks in St. Augustine on July 18-20.
The 39 Steps, Abridged is a 60-minute version of the hit whodunit, speeding along but never missing any of the comic brilliance and thrilling moments of the full-length play. Itfeatures the most loved and legendary scenes, including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on The Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged, and the death-defying (or nearly!) finale at the London Palladium! With four actors playing a minimum of 139 roles, it’s an astonishing theatrical tour de force.
The production features teaching artists and students from Apex Theatre Studio. Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The Waterworks is located at 184 San Marco Avenue in uptown St. Augustine. Free parking next to the Main Branch Library. The mainstage series is sponsored by the St. Johns Cultural Council and the St. Johns Tourist Development Council.
