The Maze at Sykes Family Farms

Oct. 7-30: Nine acres of a local farm becomes The Maze each October at Sykes Family Farm — with live music, the maze, games such as a corn cannon, live animals and more at 5995 Brough Road in Elkton, just off State Road 207. The event includes a 9-acre maze, farm animals, hayrides, children’s play area, pumpkin patch, food vendors, artisans and fall fun. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. every Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday. Mortality & Mourning: A Century of Death at the Ximenez-Fatio House 

Oct. 7-30: The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street, will host Mortality and Mourning — A Century of Death! This special tour runs  at 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 p.m. on and Friday and Saturday night in October. Enjoy a guided spooky candlelight tour through the 224-year-old historic house museum and learn about the ways St. Augustine townsfolk of the 1800’s practiced medicine and mourning rituals from Spanish-American last rites, Victorian Spiritualism, to Afro-Caribbean practices. Learn how illnesses were treated with at-home remedies from our colonial garden and original 1798 kitchen. Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail 

October 21-22 and October 28-29: The St Johns County Sheriff’s Office Special Teams Association Charity is pleased to present Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. October 21-22 and October 28-29 at 4025 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine.  CHILDREN 14 AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Halloween Spooktacular

October 28-30The Halloween Spooktacular presented by the St. Augustine Swashbucklers at the Colonial Quarter begins at 6:30 p.m. each night, located at 14 S. Castillo Dr., St. Augustine.  Take an adventure through the haunted grounds, past the skeleton ghost-ship, and beware of the spider lair! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. St. Benedict Blues Festival

October 28-30: The St. Benedict Blues Festival will take place on the grounds of Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 86 M L King Jr Ave., in the historic Lincolnville area of downtown St. Augustine. Hours are 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29; and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Admission is $5 and includes parking. Food such as New Orlean’s gumbo, pulled pork, ribs, and desserts will be offered. Beverages include water, soda, and beer from Ancient City Brewing. Bring lawn chairs for seating. Trick-or-Treating at the Ximenez-Fatio House

October 29: A free community trick-or-treating event will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street. Children can come dressed in costume and trick-or-treat for candy at every door of this 2-story historic house. Other activities include make your own candy apple, games, crafts, and more. All Hallows Eve Second Annual Charity Bash

October 29: Local pirate group Krewe of the 13 will host this Halloween event from 6-10 p.m. October 29 at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park in St. Augustine. Live music, costume contests, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a Silent Auction are included. Last year’s event raised over $20,000 to help families in our community. Overnight Paranormal Investigation at Ximenez-Fatio House

October 30: Stay overnight at a 224-year-old house on the oldest street in America and participate in a paranormal investigation with A Night Among Ghosts. Guests will use Victorian Spiritualism techniques along with modern ghost hunting equipment at the Ximenez-Fatio House, 20 Aviles Street in St. Augustine, Florida. This historic home was the family residence of Andres Ximenez, who built the coquina structure for his wife and children in 1798, and ran a general store and tavern with billiards hall on the first floor. It later became a boarding house owned and ran by women throughout the 1800s. Now a museum, guests can experience life in the 1800s on all three floors, the detached kitchen, garden and grounds. There are 13 documented deaths in this house. The overnight event will begin at 9 p.m. October 30 and includes snacks, bottled water, soda, coffee, midnight pizza, s’mores and a light continental breakfast included. Trick-or-Treating on Saint George Street

October 30: Each Halloween, Ancient City Tours hosts an event for the whole family in historic downtown St. Augustine. This year, St. George Street Trick-or-Treating will be from 2L30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022. With this free event, children can trick-or-treat at businesses in the north St. George Street area, which is a pedestrian mall. More than 300 shops, boutiques and bistros will participate in handing out candy for the event. Participating businesses will be marked with orange and black balloons in their entryway. This popular annual event has traditionally been coupled with a costume contest at Ancient City Tours. This year, organizers have opted for a virtual costume contest where participants can submit photos online throughout the month of October. (Big kids, little kids and kids at heart are all welcome! We welcome well behaved, leashed dogs too. We encourage humans and pets to be in costume and take part in the FUN) Visit ancientcitytours.net

Bridge of Life Harvest Fest in St. Augustine 

October 31: A Free Family Friendly event will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. October 31 at Bridge of Life Church, 96 Masters Dr., St. Augustine. Experience the inflatable obstacle course, see the Youth Pastor get dunked, and participate in raffles and a giveaway. Games, prizes, candy, toys and more. Costumes are welcome. Free admission.

  • Oct. 3-30: The pumpkins arrive on Oct. 3 at River of Life United Methodist Church, 2600 Race Track Road, in the Julington Creek area.   • Oct. 15-30: The pumpkins will arrive Oct. 15 at Shores United Methodist Church, 724 Shores Blvd., St. Augustine, between the Golf Course Clubhouse and Hartley Elementary. Mini-pumpkins, pie pumpkins and all all sizes in-between. Pumpkin prices vary depending on size of the pumpkin. Patch hours are 2-6 p.m. Monday-Friday; and 12-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
