Free Family Scavenger Hunt at Peña-Peck House

Every Wednesday-Saturday: Bring the whole family for a fun and educational adventure at the historic Peña-Peck House, 143 St. George Street, in downtown St. Augustine. The Family Scavenger Hunt is specially designed for children ages 5–10 (and their grown-ups) to explore the 275-year-old house together! From a cannon ball to colonial toys, musical instruments to Polly the Parrot —each stop reveals a piece of the past in an interactive and age-appropriate way. Every child receives a small prize for completing the hunt, and parents love how history comes alive for their little explorers. The family Scavenger Hunt is available Wednesday-Saturday between 12-4:30, with the last tour beginning at 3:45 PM Admission is free. Donations are accepted and help with historic preservation. Aviles Street Festival

September 5-6:The Second Annual Aviles Street Festival celebrates Spanish Heritage Month on the oldest street in the oldest city in America — Aviles Street! Held on the 460th Anniversary of St. Augustine, the weekend festival takes place on Friday, September 5 from 4 to 9 p.m. (during First Friday Art Walk) and Saturday, September 6 from 12 to 9 p.m.

The merchants, museums, galleries, and restaurants along Aviles Street invite you to enjoy two days of fun, food, music, art, and history. Highlights include invited plein air artists, live music, flamenco dancers, sword dueling demonstrations, boutique shopping, and much more.

As you stroll down this beautiful, European-style street, you’ll be transported back to the atmosphere of 18th-century Spain and life during the Second Spanish Period, just before the birth of our nation. Experience real-life history with visits to the Spanish Military Hospital Museum, the Ximenez-Fatio House, and Father Miguel O’Reilly House Museum.

Take a peek inside historic buildings undergoing renovation, wander through the serene courtyard of the St. Augustine Historical Society, and learn more about the area’s rich heritage from the newly installed historic plaques beside the Aviles Street archway.

Treat yourself to delicious food at local favorites like Nonna’s Trattoria, Forgotten Tonic, and Gaufres & Goods, and top off your evening with a sweet stop at Peace Pie.

St. Augustine 460th Anniversary – Founders Day

September 6: Celebrating 460 Years in St. Augustine on Founders Day — September 6, 2025! Locations: The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios and the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park.

This annual event brings the founding of St. Augustine in 1565 to life with reenactments, traditional ceremonies and interactive experiences that honor the city’s Spanish heritage and lasting legacy.

Schedule of Events:

  • 10 a.m. – Landing Reenactment: Watch as Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and his crew arrive by boat, recreating the moment St. Augustine was founded on Florida’s coast.
  • 11 a.m.– Catholic Mass at the Rustic Altar: Held on the grounds of Mission Nombre de Dios. (Bring a chair!)
  • Noon – Grand Procession: Walk with costumed interpreters from the Mission to the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park.
  • 1 p.m. – First Thanksgiving Reenactment: Experience a recreation of the original feast shared between the Spanish settlers and the native Timucua. (Regular admission applies; St. Johns County residents get in free with valid ID!)
  • 1–5 p.m. – Encampment & Weapons Demonstrations: See colonial life up close, with living history displays and demonstrations by reenactors in full historic dress.

St. Augustine Art Association Fall Members Show

September 5-28: This art exhibition features works in varying subjects, styles, and mediums from drawings and paintings, sculptures, photography, and more! Every piece on display was created by artist members of the St. Augustine Art Association and shows the diversity and talent of St. Augustine’s local artists. The exhibit is open during regular gallery hours, Tuesdays through Sunday, 12-4 p.m. at 22 Marine Street in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. Admission is FREE. www.staaa.org

Sing Out Loud Festival

September 5-28: St. Johns County’s Month of Music continues to grow as Sing Out Loud Festival adds more artists and venues to the festival lineup. September 20: The Third Annual St. Augustine Book Festival will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street, in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. Pumpkin Festival & Handmade Market at Wesley Wells Farms

September 27: Tickets are available for the Pumpkin Festival + Handmade Market on September 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wesley Wells Farms, 2680 Ada Arnold Road, St. Augustine. This local farm grows a wide variety of pumpkins, along with veggies, fruits and flowers. The handmade market include 20+ area vendors. Food trucks, farm animals and plenty of photo ops on site. St. Augustine Record Fair (vinyl event)

September 25: The St. Augustine Record Fair returns to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. This event is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the public. Music lovers and collectors are invited to shop thousands of music-related items including new and used vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, posters, turntable equipment and supplies, memorabilia, collectibles and more. Mortality & Mourning: Women in Black — Candlelight Tours at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum

October 3-31: The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street, will host Mortality and Mourning: Women in Black candlelight tours. This special event runs October 3-21 at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings at his historic house. Enjoy a guided candlelight tour through the 227-year-old house. Through powerful stories, period customs, and historic mourning attire, this immersive tour casts new light on how women lived with loss in the 19th century. Pink up the Pace 5K Run/Walk

October 4: Pink Up The Pace is more than a race. Funds raised help serve local breast cancer patients. The organization aims to have a positive impact on the lives of those affected by breast cancer in St. Augustine and the surrounding areas. Pink Up The Pace raises money to assist the uninsured and underinsured in the early detection of breast cancer and increase public awareness of the importance of early detection and provide support to survivors and their families. Fanfare! by First Coast Opera

October 10: The new season starts with Fanfare! – a newly-designed festive season launch event and fundraiser on Friday, October 10. Held in Celebration Hall at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, this one-night-only event will be hosted by General Director Curtis Tucker, highlight the season’s upcoming operas, and feature a multi-course catered dinner by Chef Norberto Jaramillo of La Cocina at the Cellar Upstairs. Voctave (a cappella): The Corner of Broadway and Main Street

October 11: Voctave is a dynamic 11-member a cappella group hailing from Central Florida, renowned for their intricate and captivating vocal arrangements. The group will be performing tunes from their latest album, “The Corner of Broadway and Main Street,” which features 14 musical pieces. Founded in the winter of 2015 by esteemed producer and arranger Jamey Ray, Voctave brings together a rich tapestry of musical backgrounds. Ancient City Kids Day

October 25: The 26th annual Ancient City Kids Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine. Coordinated by EPIC and brought to the community by a committee of children organizations, Ancient City Kids Day is a day of fun-filled activities for children and families. The event is FREE for the public, and will include over 40 youth service agencies offering carnival style games and activities, arts and crafts, contests for kids, and live entertainment all day. Information about community resources will be available for parents. There will  be free t-shirts/goody bags for kids while they last. The only cost to the public will be for food or drinks. Jail Break 5K

October 25: Think you’ve got what it takes to escape? St. Benedict Blues Festival

October 24-26: The St. Benedict Blues Festival will take place on the grounds of Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 86 M L King Jr Ave., in the historic Lincolnville area of downtown St. Augustine. Hours are 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25 and 12 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. Admission is $5 and includes parking. Food such as New Orlean’s gumbo, pulled pork, ribs, and desserts will be offered. Beverages include water, soda, and beer from Ancient City Brewing. Bring lawn chairs for seating. Trick-or-Treating & Harvest Festival at the Ximenez-Fatio House

October 25: A free community trick-or-treating event will take place from 1-4 p.m. at the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, 20 Aviles Street. Children can come dressed in costume and trick-or-treat for candy at every door of this 2-story historic house. Other activities include make your own candy apple, games, crafts, and more. All Hallows Eve Second Annual Charity Bash

October 29: Local pirate group Krewe of the 13 will host this Halloween event from 6-10 p.m. October 29 at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park in St. Augustine. Live music, costume contests, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a Silent Auction are included. Last year’s event raised over $20,000 to help families in our community. Trick-or-Treating on Saint George Street

October 25: Each Halloween, Ancient City Tours hosts an event for the whole family in historic downtown St. Augustine. This year, St. George Street Trick-or-Treating will be on Saturday, October 25 from 1-4 p.m.. With this free event, children can trick-or-treat at businesses in the north St. George Street area, which is a pedestrian mall. More than 300 shops, boutiques and bistros will participate in handing out candy for the event. Participating businesses will be marked with orange and black balloons in their entryway. This popular annual event is coordinated by Ancient City Tours. 

Whiskey, Wine and Wildlife — Culinary Festival

November 7-9: Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife comes to Vilano Beach for a three-day event November 7-9. Great spirits and wine tastings are artfully combined with inspired cuisine from some of the South’s best chefs and local culinary superstars, with a chance to safely experience coastal wildlife up close. The weekend’s events will raise funds and awareness for Vilano Beach Main Street and the GTM Reserve’s research and education programs. The Stamp Thief:
Seinfeld producer Gary Gilbert seeks to recover stamps stolen from victims of the Holocaust by a rogue Nazi officer. This real-life mission is part detective story, part heist film, and a small but powerful act of historical reckoning.

Mimi Wahlmann, who was featured in the film, will give a Q&A after the screening.

Nights of Lights

November 15-January 11: The annual Nights of Lights opens on Saturday, Nov. 15 during Light-Up Night, an event that includes live music in the Plaza de la Constitucion, between King Street and Cathedral Place in downtown St. Augustine. Light-Up Night is Saturday, November 15 with music starting at 5:30 p.m., and the lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Each year, former St. Augustine mayors gather to flip the switch during Light Up Night. The City of St. Augustine’s giant tree in the Plaza de la Constitucion is lit first, then all the lights come on surrounding the area. Many families start the holiday season with this tradition — going to dinner downtown and and then watching as the lights are turned on. The Nutcracker Ballet

December 19-21: The Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara, the Mouse King, and all the favorite Nutcracker characters will return to the St. Augustine stage this holiday season. Saint Augustine Ballet presents the 15th Annual Nutcracker — a timeless classic featuring professional ballet dancers and dance students from St. Augustine and surrounding areas.
