Saturday, Dec. 13 was a perfect day for a holiday 5K run at St. Augustine Beach. With the sun shining, temperatures in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, more than 400 runners, some as young as 5 and others in their 70’s, took to the streets in Santa and holiday garb, in the second Santa Suits on the Loose benefit run.
Some pushed baby carts, others were accompanied by their dogs. The event was a benefit for St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), a private, nonprofit agency that provides therapeutic services to boys in a safe, comfortable, and homelike environment and, whenever possible, to their families as well.
