Fireworks over the Matanzas

The City of St. Augustine will host Fireworks Over the Matanzas on Thursday, July 4, 2024!

SCHEDULE

6:00pm – The All-Star Orchestra will provide two hours of Big Band Music with a Patriotic Flair in the Plaza de la Constitución Gazebo

9:30pm – Fireworks Over the Matanzas, a stunning fireworks display with a stirring soundtrack. See it all from the downtown Bayfront, the Bridge of Lions, Vilano Beach, and more!

Concerts in the Plaza by City of St. Augustine

Every Thursday thru August 29: The City of St. Augustine presents the annual summer music series, Concerts in the Plaza with a  time of 6-8 p.m. every Thursday from June 1 through August 31 in gazebo of the Plaza de la Constitucion in downtown St. Augustine, between King Street and Cathedral Plaza. The lineup includes 14 musical groups — some who have performed for many years during this series, and many others who are new to the St. Augustine stage! Admission is free. First Friday Art Walk

July 5: Hosted by Art Galleries of St. Augustine, Friday Friday Art Walk will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 5 in 20+ St. Augustine art galleries! View new art exhibits and enjoy refreshments, cash bars at some galleries, and live entertainment. There are over 20 member galleries, each with its own style, located in and around the downtown area and over the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island and St. Augustine Beach. Many of the Galleries introduce their featured artist for the month and they are often on hand to answer questions about their work. First Friday Art Walk is FREE to attend and patrons can start at any participating gallery. For easy mobility downtown, gallery patrons and visitors can enjoy the FREE shuttle service that runs from 6-9 p.m. (February-November) provided by Old Town Trolley Tours St. Augustine. To use this service, shuttle stickers may be picked up at any participating gallery. FREE Words & Music Series by EMMA Concert Association

July 11 and August 1: The Words and Music Series continues this summer at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave., in uptown St. Augustine. EMMA Concerts Association hosts this free live music event, with support from the St. Johns County Tourism Development Council. The Waterworks is available through the generosity of the City of St. Augustine and the St. Johns Cultural Council.

  • Words and Music with Backintyme — July 11 @ 1:00 pm2:00 pm —Frank and Mary Lee Sweet perform as Backintyme. Dressed in 19th century clothing, they share stories and music from the pages of history. Each performance piece consists of an anedote drawn from historical research, interwoven with a related song of the time. The stories tell what people did back then. They form the source of our knowledge of the past. The songs reveal what they felt. They weave the fabric of our understanding.
  • Words and Music Series with Scott Watkins — August 1 @ 1:00 pm2:00 pm — Scott Watkins, Professor of Music at Jacksonville University, will talk about American composer Howard Hanson and will perform his “Three Etudes, Op. 18” as part of the presentation.
