Planning for City’s annual Independence Day celebration resumes

Entertainment returns, no satellite parking, no shuttles

At the March 22, 2021, City Commission meeting, City Manager John Regan recommended that the City proceed with plans for the return of Fireworks Over the Matanzas, the city’s annual Independence Day celebration, in 2021, with some modifications to services being offered and particular attention to CDC guidelines.

“We want to move ahead with planning this year’s event for the 4th of July celebration,” Regan said, “based on the position we took with outdoor gatherings and following the CDC guidelines.  This means being completely agile if we need to cancel it, but if we don’t plan and produce it, then we have no option.”

Entertainment will be provided by The All-Star Orchestra in The Plaza de la Constitución from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and fireworks will begin at 9:30pm over Matanzas Bay.

Satellite parking and shuttle service will not be provided this year.

Additional details will be provided as they become available at  www.CityStAug.com/Fireworks.

Questions may be directed to Kimberly Mayo, Event and Venue Coordinator via email at events@citystaug.com or by telephone at 904-825-1004.

Fireworks Over The Matanzas begin at 9:30 p.m. July 4 in downtown St. Augustine.
