March 5-7: ‘Bright Star’ staged by St. Johns County Center for the Arts
The St. Johns County Center for the Arts Musical Theatre program is proud to be performing the heartfelt musical, “Bright Star,” written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. It is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in 1945 with flashbacks to 1923.
Jan. 4-5: H.M.S. Pinafore by First Coast Opera
n this nautical satire, the Captain’s daughter has captured the attentions of two men: a lowly sailor Ralph Rackstraw and the pompous Sir Joseph Porter. Only the mysterious Little Buttercup can unravel the ensuing mess of class rivalries and mistaken identities. Infectious tunes and clever wit make this G&S comedy at its best!
Nov. 13-17: Hedda Gabler at St. Augustine High School
Students in the Theater Program at St. Johns County Center for the Arts will stage Hedda Gabler (by Henrik Ibsen) at St. Augustine High School. Directed by Mike Beaman, this is new translation by Patrick Marber.
